He is distinguished medical teacher and clinician who is heading the Department of Critical Care, Pulmonary & sleep medicine at Max hospital Mohali, India since May 2012. Under his guidance department got recognition for Doctorate of National Board (DrNB) Critical care medicine in 2019. With over 20 years of experience, he has guided and mentored many critical care & pulmonary physicians who are now serving the humanity and saving precious lives in different hospitals and institutions both in India and abroad.
Dr Deepak Bhasin is alumni of Govt. medical college Patiala batch 2000-2003, where he obtained his MD degree in Chest Medicine from BFUMS, Punjab. After working in various prestigious hospitals for 4 years thereafter he joined Indian Diploma in critical care medicine as fellow in 2007 at Sundram Medical Foundation at Chennai under the dynamic mentorship of Dr Ram E. Rajagopalan & Dr S. Mahendran.
After completing his critical care training 2006-2007 he joined Fortis Hospital Mohali as an ICU consultant, where he worked for four and half years. He was instrumental in establishing and expanding the medical intensive care unit of Fortis hospital Mohali. In May 2012 he moved to Max hospital Mohali as head of the department Critical Care, Pulmonology and Sleep medicine.
Dr. Bhasin is an expert in all bronchoscopic procedures including endobronchial and transbronchial biopsies, bronchoalveolar lavage and conventional transbronchial needle aspirations. He is also well versed in EBUS guided biopsy procedures. He has undergone training in the field of sleep medicine and running a sleep lab at Max hospital Mohali. He was the first to introduce Ultrasound in ICU back in 2008. He has a huge experience in the field of critical care medicine including ventilatory management, intubation, central venous catheterization, percutaneous tracheostomy, critical care thoracic ultrasound and other ICU procedures. He served extensively in COVID- 19 pandemic and saved thousands of lives.
Dr Bhasin has an excellent academic orientation and regularly gives talks and lectures on medical subjects to both specialty audiences and the lay public.
